Greyhound bus. I woke up with a sore neck and an annoying little brat who kept jabbing me with his finger through the gap in the two seats. I grabbed his finger the last time he did it and twisted really hard. I’m sort of mean if woken up abruptly.
I’ve slept in some really bad spots before. But, by far, the worst place to try and sleep is on an airplane. Hard seat, no room to stretch, annoying row mates. It’s horrible.
Missed a train and was stuck at a train station in the midlands. I had to wait for the next train which was at 5:30am. The waiting room had no heating on a platform which was freeeeeeeeeeeeeeezing! I was only around 20 at the time and assumed I would just have to put up with it.
But when the same thing happened to me ten years later, I asked the staff where I could wait for the next train and they put me in the lovely first class lounge and told me to help myself to drinks and snacks.
For some reason I can’t remember the most uncomfortable place I’ve ever slept–I seem to have a knack for dozing off almost anywhere–but I can remember that one of the most comfortable places I’ve found to sleep is a bathtub.
On a board suspended a few inches above the floor. This was in Szechuan China back in 1980 and was in a Buddhist monastery. The simple life and all that…….
In a rustic cabin in the woods in New Hampshire. It was the middle of winter and the heater was not functioning. Thought I was going to die of hypothermia.
On the back of a fire truck during an extended incident.
