I feel a bit silly sharing my answer after Marla’s there. Hers is a lot more mature. But I enjoy board games. It’s rare that I can find anyone who likes them any more.
Hey Melanie!! My Goldfinch is a very definite board-game enthusiast. He has made them, bought them, sold them, reviewed them and he plays every Friday with a group of friends, usually at his home. When he was in England his place was much smaller, but he went to a local pub where they had a board game club meet every Monday evening. He seems to have a large social network through his love of board-games. There are also websites, one I think is called BoardGameGeek where he can share his interest and learn about games he has never come across before.
I must admit…though I love a game of Monopoly – I had never seen that level of enthusiasm. But it just made him more adorable to me! I still check out his wish-list regularly to see if I can send him a game he cannot get in Australia.
Geology – well, some people are interested in rock formations – but others…perhaps they don’t appreciated quite how thrilling it is to dig through layers of natural history.
Thomas Hardy’s novels. I can read them over and over. Most people have never read them, and of those who have, most hate them. I wish I had just one friend who loved them as much as I do. Sigh…
