Not from the 800 number usually provided with such items, but I have seen the item in another place (store) and bought one or two there. They aren’t any better quality than the TV versions either.
I never ordered them over the phone either, but I have to say that my brother and I have this weird habit of hunting ”As seen on TV” gadgets at Walmart, and exchange them as Christmas gifts. Promises are rarely met, but we occasionally had a nice surprise 😛
When you think about it… If a product is really revolutionary, and working as well as they are trying to convince us, they wouldn’t need to promote it on tv. It would sell itself without having to go trough the trouble of shooting an expensive infomercial, right? 😉 Still, these advertising professionals are quite convincing sometimes!
Oh Rob…. Are you suggesting that the Gotham Steel pan is a fraud?? They promise that nothing will stick to it… I think I saw an ad that showed how you could melt candies in their wrappers in the pan, and then just swipe it with a paper towel… I am very disappointed. Then again, this is the girl who bought Eggies, talking 😛
I think that the key is not to believe in ”miracles” and have reasonable expectations… I have some ”As seen on tv” gadgets I am really happy with, too 🙂 Glad you made the good choice!
I had never heard about the Purple People Eater, but I just Googled it, and whoa, that’s a strange name for what looks like a character created to entertain children 😉 Glad you weren’t disappointed with neither of your buys 🙂
Good for you… I think that most of these gadgets are either not delivering what’s being promised, or just not that useful 😛 But there are some exceptions 😉

You’re so right that these are tempting us. But once burned twice shy.

Yes, one of those copper/orange frying pans that nothing supposed to stick to. Yet, everything sticks to it.

Indeed I am! Yup, everything sticks to it. I tried to fry eggs in it, and I ruined two perfectly good eggs trying to extract them from that pan.

These advertising professionals can be pretty convincing, uh? No wonder these commercials have been running for all these years 😉

Some of the old commercials were hilarious.

Way back in the day I bought a funny record with “Purple People Eater” and other novelty tunes. I bought an exercise thingie too. Both were fine.

😉 It is a little like these companies that call you at home to propose their services… If you ever need them, you’ll find them, right? 🙂
