Uhm, not at all! I cannot even hammer a nail straight into something no matter how easy it may be (you know, those little hammer-the-nail games children play, well, I can’t beat a 3-year-old).
Once, in the very dim past, I was pretty darned handy indeed. I could fix most things, put in a lightbulb (in a ceiling fixture) by myself, change out batteries in those annoying smoke detectors, program the TV remote, and even do a bit of minor electrical repair. The only thing I never attempted was plumbing because to me it pays to pay a professional for that stuff. But now? I can’t do much at all, my hands are too weak, I have an intention tremor so my hands shake besides, getting on a ladder is a risky proposition…eh. Getting old sucks.
I’m pretty good with fixing things.

I can change light bulbs and batteries and I can tighten screws.

I think I’m pretty handy as long as I know the problem and there are instructions on doing that repair.

Handy enough to survive but I also believe in hiring a professional for plumbing and electrical repairs.
