Today’s the birthday of a very special person.
I met Larry through my Skypy Sessions (that used to be on Sundays back then), and his cheeky comments in The Cove. The Texan blogger has a great sense of humor, and always has a fun story to share…
Hokey is definately an important member of our little Friday gang, and a dear friend of mine. I’d like to invite you all to wish him a happy birthday, to make his day extra special.
So, wether you already know the gentleman or not, please visit him here!
P.S. Because of covid-19, the cake is reserved for Larry and his lovely wife… But you can pick a cupcake on your way to Hokey’s π
Thanks, Cyranny! I appreciate the post, and the virtual cake. π I made my own cake a couple days ago – it was a recipe my mom made called a wacky cake. It’s a real moist chocolate cake and I’ll post the recipe for you later.
My son sent me two real complicated 3-D wood puzzles. Guess he thinks I need something to do?
Spent most of the day futzing with my web site…really aggravating as it doesn’t act like it wants to update to reflect my changes. In edit mode I see what I want but when I save and update, nothing changes on the live page.
Have a great week, and thanks again.

You’re most welcome, Larry π I’m glad to see that you had a nice day! I’m curious about that wacky cake, looking forward to have the recipe! I just might try it for my own birthday…
Sorry to read that The Internets are giving you some trouble… I guess that, just like your son, it just wants to give you something to work on to kill time? π
Thank you, and have a great week too π

A great cake for a great man π I must admit that I didn’t make it, though. I borrowed it from The Internets π

Wackie cake recipe:
1 cup sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1-1/2 cups flour
1/4 cup cocoa
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbls vinegar
1 cup water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 tsp vanilla
Throw it all in a bowl, mix thouroughly. The batter will seem runny, but thats okay – it’s supposed to be that way. Bake in an 8 inch square pan or glass baking. If you don’t have a square pan, a 9×7 pan works just as well.
Set temp at 350F and bake for 30 minutes. Check for doness by sticking a toothpick in the center. If it comes out moist, let it bake a while longer…just monitor closely.
When done, let it cool and throw your favorite frosting on it. It is a moist cake and goes good with ‘nilla ice cream. π Sorry I don’t know the metric equivalents for the measurements.
Enjoy! Hokey

Thank you π π π (that was fast)
Don’t worry about metric measurements, we use cups and tsp-tbls too for cooking!
I’ll let you know when I try it π
