Probably. Ours usually do that muffley bark, like theyβre chasing something or guarding the porch. Her legs even go a little, like sheβs running. Pretty funny. π
They are so cute when they do that! The cats I had looked more as if they were chasing something in their sleep… Trying to catch some bug or animal between their paws π
When I posted the question, I had a thought for Biasini… I am used to cats and dogs kicking and running in their sleep, but I wondered if horses did aswell π Very interesting π
Horses are able to sleep standing up as their leg joints can lock. Useful when the lived in the wild. They will lie down and sleep too but only stay down for about 20 minutes max. Sometimes when I have been braiding Biasini at a show he will go to sleep and then his head will sometimes move and then he wakes up with a startle and looks like he thought he was somewhere else. Dreaming perhaps.
I am sure there is… Wouldn’t it be funny if they were also wondering if we dream? But I am sure that even if they had the possibility to ask themselves this kind of questions, Freja wouldn’t care LOL
I read somewhere that some dog psychiatrist (I didnβt know that was a profession, but apparently it is) said that when dogs dream, they mostly dream about their owners.
Animal psychiatrists…. I am puzzled. I don’t want to judge, but I have trouble taking that seriously. But psychiatrist or not, I think that dog probably do dream about their owners π Cats, I’m not so sure! Mouahhahaha
Absolutely. The little sounds they make (werfs, growls, sometimes a very soft bark), the peddling (moving their paws as if running), the tail wagging. I’m pretty sure they’re chasing squirrels or rabbits, and I’m also positive I cannot imagine the beauty of the places they go. I think they get that gift and that release.
Absolutely, I do.

It is… Yesterday, Freja was sleeping on a shelf, and she fell off!! I checked on her first, but then I had a good laugh at her expense π

Yes! With the noises and movements they make they have to be dreaming!

Yes, I think so too! I really wonder what they dream of π

I was going to say the way mine whines and runs in her sleep she has to be dreaming.

Dogs in particular, seem to run a lot in their sleep… I wonder where they are going in their dreams π

Definitely! Without a doubt!
Peanut could be sleeping and all of a sudden he’ll squawk or giggle. He’s been that way for years.

I don’t recall Dolores doing that, but that was a while back… It must be so cute to hear him giggle to himself like that, in his sleep π

Yes absolutely. I have seen dogs moving their legs and making small woofing noises while asleep. Horses occasionally startle while sleeping.

Thanks for the information π I have been around horses many times in my life, but not enough to actually see one sleep!

Iβm pretty certain that they do. I know I see my dogβs (closed) eyes moving when he sleeps, so there must be something going on in his brain!

I agree, our cat moves so much in her sleep, that she once fell off the shelf where she was sleeping! π I hope the dream was worth the fall π
