On a mission…

People think I am just traveling to Denmark for fun, but people are easily fooled!

  • Business trip then? You sure don’t look like a business woman!

Nope, think again… I am on a mission.

Svendborg’s Fairy has spoken to me in my dreams… She spoke of a magic dress I was to seek on her behalf. Because them fairies have far more important fairies’ stuff to take care of, and I am well aware of that.

I accepted the mission, though I know it will be perilous. For one thing, I don’t know where to find the dress, since all magic things are hard to find, being magic and all. If it was easy, anybody could do it, and it just wouldn’t be a mission anymore…

I am not quite sure what kind of magic the green dress holds. I have heard tales about it in the past, tales told around a bonfire. I think the green dress was made by a Nordic Goddess who’s name I can’t remember… She had knitted it with Denmark’s greenest grass and embroided little pieces of amber on it, that attracted and concentrated people’s dreams… She had then offered it to the chief of all fairies (again, I couldn’t tell who exatly she was… I am not good with names).

The fairies were to use the dress to collect people’s dream thoughts and use them to write stories for the villagers. Stories people would read and tell eachother about to ease them after a hard day of work… And, appeased by the fairies’ tales, they would then dream again at night, completing the cycle.

But at one point in time, I think that the fairies came to think they didn’t need the dress anymore. They thought they had enough imagination to write by themselves, and put the old magic dress away. And when they realized their mistake, the dress had disapeared!

Well, that’s what I remember from what was told back then…

I didn’t give the magic green dress much thought after that. I did remember it every now and then, when I would see a woman wearing one. But it was never quite like the one in the tale…

Now I have to get my hand on it. Find it, get it and take it back to Denmark where it belongs! I’m pretty sure Svendborg’s fairy will provide me the needed clues to complete my task successfully.

I know my path will be full of challenges, it wouldn’t be a mission otherwise, right? I’ll probably have to eat food I won’t even be able to pronounce the name. And sometimes sleep in barns, straight on the hay, with spiders and poisonous snakes hiding in the dark… I’ll also have to be strong and resist villagers, who’ll try to lure me into staying with them to entertain them with my foreign ways…

But I am ready! I accepted the task, and it is now mine to accomplish…

I am on a mission!

  1. Wow, you write like a true poet! If that dress was just a simple dress before, it’s sure is magical now. I can even imagine it dance and twirl all by itself 🙂 Happy happy!
