I know Valentine’s Day is over… but I just had to post this. Just how much love does one need, especially on Valentine’s Day? Although I can’t be against that International day of the day, I have the feeling that each year, the focus is taken off the love birds, and on to all those poor single people who deserve love too, you know?

I am not complaining because I am in the “already having a significant other” category. I complain because society, in its need to make poor singles feel included on this very special day, really over does it! Before, it was a chocolate, flowers, and a few cheesy declarations day. Now, because poor singles won’t get their card filled with affectionate Xs, it seems hearts and reminders of the love singles should feel are spread E-VE-RY-WHE-RE!

Really? Did we need a little love even while faxing a form to that angry lady not happy about her printing problem? I sure could have lived without the attention.

And what about the poor singles? Do they want that focus? Would they rather speed to go back home, pop open some Häagen-Dazs, and stuff themselves while crying on the 36^th repetition of Patsy Cline’s Crazy? Or maybe dress themselves up all neat and all, and go speed-dating all night long…? Did anyone think about asking them??

Anyway, Valentine’s Day is gone now… for a year. And The big hearts on the office’s multitask display are history too! But I’ll have that song lingering on the back of my mind… Dang!
