The woods around my home were dense and the many trails narrow, I had to take my time to discover bit by bit my new “neighbourhood”. I hadn’t noticed, when I was looking for the perfect place to settle down, just how many other houses stood everywhere. Had I been blinded by my itch to build? Were the other habitations as new as mine?
I didn’t dare to go have a closer look just yet, but I took note of a few places where the people seemed interesting… And I pursued my walking in the woods, until I heard the sound of soft waves breaking up.
Following the sound, I came to a clearance in the trees, and in the opening stood another glass house. It was the house of someone with much more skills in building than me. It was pretty tall, two or three stories high, and original. It was built on the shore of a large lake.
Unlike my clear glass panes, the owner of this building had used multi colored stained glass. In the sunlight, the reflections gave the impression the lake’s water was a liquid rainbow… Unfortunately, there didn’t seem to be anyone home.
I sat on a tree trunk by the lake, and took out my bottle of water. For some reason, I didn’t feel the need to rush home. The sign in front of the the house simply said “Him” and I got lost in my thoughts. Him… Him was obviously very creative. I was a little disappointed Him wasn’t home…
But I had a lot of work ahead of me, so I picked my bag and entered the woods again.
When back in front of my house, something caught my eye. On the pane just next to the door, someone had left me a message on the glass.
“I had some chocolate cupcakes for you, but you weren’t home. Better luck next time. Hope you don’t get lost in the woods… Him.”
So Him had been here, while I was at Him’s….
To be continued…
