  1. Some time ago I accepted that Covid was not just a flash in the pan and could be with us for a long time. My son sent me a text to say that the new variants seem to be more transmissible but not more deadly. I also see that Pfizer are already testing their vaccine to see if it is effective against Omicron and if it is not then they will take about 6 weeks to produce a new vaccine that will be effective. So I am not going to stress about it.

  2. I don’t feel anything particularly. It was expected. It was alarming to see people thinking the Pandemic was over and having packed parties in local restaurants and pubs and nobody wearing facemasks.

I was watching the news and one researcher said that so far they have gathered that the delta variant spread very easily, whereas the omicron variant spreads extremely easily. But he said after that they are not sure about anything. They don’t know yet if it is more or less pathogenic – or “deadly”. They don’t know how effective vaccines are against it. They just know it has quite extensive mutations, and they seem rather concerned about that.

As has always been the case, I am most concerned about those most vulnerable physically. I am also concerned about those whose mental health suffered during the past two years – whether it be anxiety, social isolation or other areas. I am concerned about people who are anxious over losing jobs etc if there are more restrictions to come. But I was very worried by how quickly people seemed to be trying to get back to “normal” as if they had not just faced the most disruptive (and invisible) challenge in decades.

But we will see. We still have to wear PPE at work and I am still avoiding the communal kettle and microwave and taking my own flask, water bottle and food. Jack and me have been hot on facemasks in public places and turning down invitations to large events. Jack has postponed some overseas tours he was supposed to make because they receive reports from lots of countries about the covid situation, so as an organization, they have decided to keep meetings and events virtual until it seems much safer to do otherwise.

This weekend is very cold and windy and wet and I am very happy to have only Jack’s company. I am wondering when the party next door is going to end though. Our sofa is vibrating because of the volume the music next door is being played at.

    1. It IS alarming to see the crowded indoor restaurants and cafés. I’m like you, I take with me my own boiled water for hot drinks, my own food. My alcohol spray is on me all the time. And even when I buy coffee, I usually have my reusable mug and I empty the coffee in there. For some it might seem extreme, but I can’t risk it at all, especially that I take care of my 2 elderly parents.
I hope the party didn’t last long 😏

  3. I feel like they named it after a bad Transformer that im not sure ever existed. Or at least some evil power associated with the Transformers. Otherwise, ive been waiting for it to have a new variant. Seemed like Delta was getting to comfortable being the king of the world.

Otherwise, my anxiety can’t really get worse. I was watching a video of a concert from like 20 years ago and there were a zillion people there. I freaked out and had to grab my face mask just to watch the first part of it. I had to stop it because the mask didn’t feel like enough. I was in my house, this happened 20 years ago, and there was a monitor… and yet. Go figure.

Yesterday I was tempted to wear my mask on Skype! There were 5 people in the same room as me who were not in my Covid bubble lol. Yeah, I’m going a bit crazy lol

  4. Not unexpected and more anxiety in my case. I’ve had the booster and continue to social distance and wear a mask in public spaces. It’s all I can control. Every little sniffle sends me into a tizzy.

  5. There’s just not enough information to know yet. I haven’t really had any colds or anything since the pandemic started. And it’s not over, despite what a lot of people may think. It doesn’t really change what we already do to protect ourselves.

      1. Hello from the UK

Well said. As Covid 19 is the ‘flu turned into a ‘monster’ by constantly advertising how dangerous it supposedly, it is not surprising people have been scared (and scarred) by the experience. A psychological operation by MSM etc over decades.

The ‘flu is the internal toxicosis of the body, hence individual to each person. Vitamin D deficiency is the true pandemic due to increased indoor living and working.

Vaccines can never stop Covid 19 as these are neuro-toxins if they are anything at all and vaccines merely poison one more.

Here are my links if you are interested. Please note I do use humour to lighten the mood and help make the points.

The posts have a sub-link which will take you to Covid 19 Summary from which you can access sub-links on the various issues, including masks.

        Kind regards
