My ex-father-in-law passed away at age 99 this past week. He was much more of a dad to me than my own father was. He was the kindest man I’ve ever met. Unfortunately, his daughter and I didn’t get along that well and divorced. He had a beautiful family of six kids, all of whom I was close to. When I sent flowers via FTD, I had very wet eyes writing my condolences for the card to my former in-laws.
When I read a poem on Facebook about the 215 aboriginal children who died at the Residential School. The poem said that no one was there to hug them but the land took their bodies and hugged them , the trees bent down to weep for them and the wind cried for them. I tried to read it aloud to my husband and I got completely choked up and had tears running down both cheeks.

When I heard of my friend passing away. She was ill and elderly, but it didn’t lessen the sorrow any.
