Definitely, I did a gift exchange at a party 2 years ago and got a pair of men socks. What do I do with that? Fortunately, my coworker included a receipt so I could go exchange it for a gift card.
Ohhh good point Yinglan 🙂 I hadn’t thought about that kind of gift exchanges, that are rather unpersonal! Good for you for getting the gift card instead!
Hehehehehe, I guess you just have to be careful remembering who gave you the bad presents not to regive them to them 😉 Or maybe that could be a (not so) subtle message? 😛
As I told Paula, you just have to be careful, unless you want to let the people who gave you disappointing gifts know, just how special you felt when you received them 😛
I’m sincere in thanking whoever took the time to buy the gift, even if I privately think it’s awful. If I regift, I make sure it’s not given to someone else who is acquainted with the first person too. It can be tricky!
no, I never have. If someone took the time to purchase or create a present for me I kept it. I still have the horribly double-FISH vase someone gave me at my wedding. Looks like two catfish slapping each other with their tails. *shudders*. It is in the living room.
I’m the same, Madame Suze! A couple of birthdays back, my brother and his boyfriend gave me this insanely ugly lamp (and I mean it… In Lampworld, this lamp would have to be the kindest lamp ever to make lamp friends… And it would probably make lampbabies cry). And did I get rid of it, or at least hide it in a closet? Nope! It is still in the livingroom. I even found a purpose for it; I realized that if a thief was to break into our apartment, if he saw The Lamp, he probably wouldn’t bother looking for anything worth reselling. LOL
Yes, not reimbursed but exchanged. Only because the giver said that I could!

I might do it, if the person told me it was fine… But in general, I just appreciate what’s being given to me 🙂

Hehehehehe, yeah that’s a very good reason to get an exchange 😉

Oh definitely, a gift card is much better. At least I get to pick the gift.

No. I just hide them away to regift or toss out!
