Oooo tough one!! I have a degree of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, so ‘chaos’ (not planned) makes my skin crawl. Personally I plan things (like trips and so forth) out the yin-yang! I hate to go with people who do things ‘off the cuff’ too, which is why I don’t like to travel with my family (or didn’t when one could travel). They’re so disorganized it makes me twitch! BUT. In things of a decision type nature (what’s for lunch, should I buy that really shiny pretty thing and so forth)? I’m all off the cuff. Yeah. Dual nature, that’s me!
Hehehehehe… Funny, I’m pretty much the opposite. I plan stuff, because I have to (work schedules, appointments and that sort of things), but I much prefer to decide things at the last minute. When I travel with people, I plan certain things, but when I am alone, no one knows where I’ll end up… LOL
I am totally spontaneous and I fly by the seat of my pants. My husband has to plan everything down to the very last detail. I find it takes a lot of the excitement out of things and gets really tedious and very boring.
I totally agree… I manage to plan everyday life stuff, because if I didn’t, I wouldn’t get things done. But when I am off, I make decisions as I go about my day. A lot more fun for me that way 🙂
I usually plan ahead only for one reason – my wife likes it that way! 😁 She isn’t the type that likes spontaneous activity when it comes to travel or going out for an evening. If we go on a road trip, I will plan it to the nth degree so she knows what’s in store. I will have driving routes laid out: hotels lined up; side trips planned. Very rarely do we deviate from the plan, but on a recent long road trip we did, and I didn’t get much static over it.
For me, I can do a basic plan – like a driving route – and then let fate take over. If something interesting comes up, I may deviate but then get back on the plan afterward. Last-minute changes normally don’t phase me. They have on a few rare occasions, but I can go with the flow most of the time.
Same here… My first trip to Denmark just by myself, I had a loose plan, only because I really wanted to see a list of places. But the second time around, I had only booked my first Airbnb, in Copenhagen, and the rest of the trip was pure improvisation. Many people told me afterwards that they’d never travel with me if I didn’t plan more LOL But to my defence, I met people and I went to places I never would have, if I had planned everything. Good times!!
That’s how I see things too… For work schedules, and important appointments, planning is fine. But when I have free time, I throw caution to the wind 😉 As you said… Much more fun that way 😉
When I was younger I did a lot of spontaneous travel. Hopping on a standby flight to New York City or wandering about in Buenos Aires. But now I prefer to have some planning. Not planned to death but some plans.

Spontaneous! More fun. Planned! Rational and usually a better way to actually get things done…

It takes a lot out of me to be spontaneous. I have tried But I am best with a plan

Isn’t it funny how minds can work so differently? I have to put efforts into following plans, and being spontaneous is more natural to me 😉

I’m a planner! I like order! Except I’m dating a guy who just wings it! So for the moment I’m tagging along!

Both. Nice to have something planned to look forward to and good to be spur of the moment too.
