Lucky penny…

I found this penny on the floor of my apartment today.

Uninteresting? I beg to differ.

For one thing, you have to consider that my life has reached a such a high level of boringness (I don’t care if that’s not a word, inventing new ones is the only free kind of fun left!) that anything unusual feels like a party-worth event.

Even if you don’t live in North America, I’m pretty sure that you are aware that finding a penny is considered good luck. And I like that. Like anyone around me, a little luck is something I welcome with open arms. I also collect Freja’s fallen whiskers, and I make wishes when I notice what they call mirror hours (Which is why I now schedule my Quickies at 11h11, and my 1MinFiction Challenges at 1h11).

Do I really think it will bring me good luck? Hmmm… Let’s just say I hope so.

There are two details that made me unexpectedly excited to find said penny on our wooden floor.

  1. Pennies have been eliminated from Canadian money in 2013. Which means that finding one is very unlikely, unless you’ve made a collection before they went out of circulation.
  2. Our apartment being a controled environment, any new addition is odd, to say the least.

After finding my new penny, I Googled the meaning it had. One writer said that a lucky penny was a gift from good wishing old sould or angels (if you believe in them), to lift your spirit.

My guardian angel went through a lot of trouble to bring a little lightness to my life.

I believe something good is coming my way.

And you should too.

Look for the silver lining in all the little things.

  1. I was a little taken aback with your casual reference to scheduling your Quickies until I dragged my sordid little mind from the gutter and brought it back to the fact you were talking about luck and pennies and writing. Although stop it dirty little brain. Hope I at least made you smile. Having company this weekend so I most likely will not be in attendance on Friday. This passed week was due to two rambunctious young lads (men?) racing around my apartment.
Have a great day Cranny! 🙂
