Do you believe that some people can’t cook, or is it just a matter or liking to cook or not?

    1. 😉 I think that people just set their standards too high when it comes to cooking. It doesn’t take a lot of ”talent” to make mac & cheese, or a steak with potatoes… I tend to think that people who say they can’t cook just don’t enjoy it, or don’t care to learn 😉

    1. I like the parallel with singing, Rob 🙂 I think that just like singing, some people think they are much better than they really are… And some have a talent that they don’t take advantage of 😉

  1. I hate cooking. It is a waste of time lol but I do it and I do it well. The cooking. Well and the wasting of time. When I put my mind to it I can be creative but I never got the cooking bug. Maybe because my mom worked so we had a lot of easy meals like stews/casseroles etc. 🙂

    1. I think that my mom would agree with you 😉 She never really enjoyed cooking, although she is very good at it. She used to say she would be really happy if someone invented pills that would replace food, and we’d just have to take a couple of them daily 😛

  2. I think the two are intrinsically bound. If you don’t enjoy cooking, you’ll never make the effort to learn to, in my opinion. I have relatives who exhibit both sides of the equation. One is a woman, in her mid-60s now, who doesn’t know how to cook. BUT. She hates doing it and admits it. Another (a man) loves to cook, and has been cooking for himself and his family for years now. He’s gotten good at it too. My mother was a lousy cook, and I think felt it was beneath her or something. She could bake though. Awesome baker. Maybe it’s a skill and maybe it’s a passion. Depends on the person I suppose. I know if I hated cooking, I just wouldn’t. But I love it and it shows.

    1. I agree… Some people have a natural ”talent”, but for the rest of us, it is just a matter of practicing. I think that the fact that some people aren’t interested in cooking has something to do with our way of living… Back in the days, when families were larger, and cooking meant feeding many people, it must have been more rewarding to spend time making something good to share. When you’re only cooking for yourself, it’s probably easier to turn to easier choices, like pre-cooked meals….
