A little bit of light…

20200420_173304

I don’t know how things are, outside Canada, but here, the concept of ”news” has been cancelled about a month ago. News channels are 100% dedicated to the covid-19. The increasing number of people affected, of people admited in hospitals, of people now in ICUs, of deaths…

That’s why I was suprised to see something else on tv yesterday night. It wasn’t better news, but it sure was different.

Saturday night, in Nova-Scotia, a (mad) man went on an overnight rampage, until the police stopped him sometime yesterday. The (mad) man started his killing spree in his neighbourhood before dressing like an officer and driving a vehicule made to look exactly like a federal police car, for 90 kilometers. He killed 19 people, so far, because he left 16 (six-feckin’-teen) different crime scenes and burnt down a couple of houses!

This is the worst mass murder in the history of Canada.

Needless to say that the people of Nova Scotia didn’t need this! Nobody needs this kind of madness. Especially now…

This afternoon, during his daily press conference, our prime minister recommended to get out and take a walk (keeping away from other people, of course). I had to go get something I couldn’t get delivered, so I dressed up (it’s still pretty chilly in Freezingland, meh!) and I walked a bit around the neighbourhood, searching for a little light to catch on camera…

I hope you’ll enjoy the above picture, and that it’ll bring a little bit of spring light into your day.

    1. It is… really. We’re (kinda) used to learn about shootings South of the border, but when it happens here, it’s always a shock.

I hope that all the social distancing won’t trigger more of these lone wolves walking on the line.

Take good care too, dear you πŸ™‚ xx

  1. I saw this story on the news here in the United States. Unfortunately, mass shootings have become a common occurrence recent years here in the US to the point where we have so-called ‘Mass Shooter Drills’. Similar to the fire drills we had in school, but with a completely different theme. It’s a sad reality for which it seems that nobody truly has the answers to solve the problem, and with our president encouraging gun ownership while concurrently cutting funding to mental health care, I fear the problem will only get worse.

On a positive note, we have flowers like this in the yard. I’m waiting for them to bloom again this year so I can again go outside and take a bunch of pictures of them. πŸ˜€

    1. I was telling ChΓ©ri that South of the border, this event could have been just one more on a long list (sadly). I wasn’t aware of these drills… It’s kind of scary if you have to be prepared for some mad trigger happy lone wolf. I’m sending you all my best vibes so that these stressful times don’t bring more carnages…

      I can’t wait to see your pictures… I know they’ll be amazing πŸ™‚ You’re the pro, here!

Stay safe and well, Thomas πŸ™‚ xx

    1. Horrible indeed, Cheryl. The last news reported 23 deaths now… and still counting.

It made me fear for my friends South of the border. With the protesting movements starting in some states, and Trump cheering them up (a**hole), I hope you won’t have to go through that kind of event anytime soon.

      *Big hugs* to you! xx

  2. Horrible. Truly sad, especially in these trying and stressful times. I have not watched any news, nor do I normally. I get the occasional headline of something major on my phone but rarely do I read. I don’t need to know the facts about covid deaths. I know it’s happening, don’t need details. Keeps me calm. Beautiful photo. Thanks for sharing.

    1. I understand your ”not watching the news”… But living in Canada’s epicenter, I prefer to stay informed of the latest news. It feels weird to get scared of going outside mostly for ChΓ©ri’s sake.

Thank you for the kind words, I’ll make another excursion soon to get more Spring shots in the neighbourhood πŸ™‚
