Dear Lovelies,
By now, pretty much all of us have been sent home by the authorities, and requested not to go out, unless it is absolutely necessary. Social distancing is crucial, to stop the plague that is trying to spread still. But it shouldn’t rhyme with isolation.
With that in mind, I was looking for a way to bring us together, and to put a little joy and lightness in our lives. I thought about a danceathon I had arranged, once, in The Cove. It was about three years ago, and unlike the usual hours long dance events, it is about gathering as many people as we can, and not about the duration.
I think it’s a fun idea, and I hope you’ll tag along.
How does it work? It couldn’t be easier. Wednesday, you’ll get 2 different chances to get a little exercise, have a little fun, and hopefully forget about all the negativity and the bad stuff on the news, for a couple of minutes. On April 1st (no, it’s not a joke, hehehe) at 10 am and 10 pm, Montréal time, I’ll play the following song in my apartment and dance like nobody’s watching (because nobody will!). I’m inviting you to do the same, so we can share this little dance, from a distance.
Set a timer up. Get ready to wiggle, and you’re all set!
You have no excuse for not joining in… I have set two times, so you don’t have to wake up insanely early or stay up too late at night, to dance along. You can’t stand up to dance with us? No problem! Stay seated and move everything you can to the rhythm! You think you’re a bad dancer? Who cares? There’s noone watching… And if you simply don’t like the song, pick your own tune 🙂
If you’re not good with time zones, just let me know in the comment box. I’ll help you figure at what time the challenge is, your time.
Let’s create a great virtual dancefloor altogether! It’s going to be fun…
Please feel free to share this, if you’d like your readers to join the dance, and let me know if you’d like to propose alternative songs.
And don’t forget to raise your hand (leave a comment, I have good eyes, but not that good a sight, mouaahahahahaha) if you decide to join in!!
Remember, April 1rst, 10 am and 10 pm, Montréal time.
I’ll be waiting for you!!
Oh, I do love a good dance! What a great idea. 💃🎵 I’ll be there. Just gotta work out the time difference.

That’s so cool, Miriam… I had a feeling you might enjoy a little dancing with us 🙂 I’m really glad we’ll be wiggling together… So, your time, that would be April 2nd 3 am (not ideal, right? :P) and 3 pm 🙂

Hmm, Doug might have something to say if I turn on the music and boogie at 3am 😂 3pm on the other hand is very doable!! 😁

Thank you, Ali 🙂 I think we all need to move even if just a little, and to know that we are doing it all together is good for the mood too 🙂 🙂 🙂 I hope you join us! xx

I don’t dance. In public, anymore, anyway. I choose instead to portray some sort of smouldering look of desire across the dance floor. So I’ll do that at 10 and 10 …
‘What do you do
When it’s left up to you
And you’ve got to give it one more chance?
And she’s begging you please
Not to tease her with reason
‘Cause all she wants to do is dance
How do you cope
When you haven’t a hope
And the music begins to play?
The first funky beat
And she’s up on her feet
And she’s dancing your chances away.
There’s no point in staying
Another record is playing
And you don’t get to say goodbye
As you push through the crowd
The music’s playing so loud
No one hears you got tears
In your eyes.’

Awww.. I really enjoyed this 😉 I’ll allow you to just sit back and watch us dance around, but I don’t promise I won’t try to convince you to change your mind 😉

I danced too, and it was even more fun than I expected… I think I had not realized how little exercise I am getting since we locked ourselves in. I’ll probably be doing this everyday to get the little boost 🙂 A big thank you for both joining in!! xx
