Would you rather go camping in nature, or stay in a chic hotel?

  1. having done both, I recommend camping! Staying in a five star hotel becomes a bit boring actually. After eating enough to stuff a moose, then hanging out in a hot tub, having people checking on you daily becomes annoying. Maids constantly checking to see if you need a new towel, or change of linens…gah. I’d rather be in the outdoors, cooking what I want when I want…wandering around through the woods, or hiking up a mountainside, slowly…I AM old after all. Sleeping when I am tired and having the noise of NATURE instead of knocking on doors. Waking up at dawn to make a fire for warmth…yea baby!

    1. I agree… When I travel, I don’t see the point in having a super luxurious room. I spend so little time in it anyway 🙂 As long as I have a clean, comfortable bed to sleep in and can take a hot bath or shower at the end of the day, I am happy. Luxury is nice, but unnecessary. I’d rather spend my money visiting around. My parents took us camping a lot when we were young, and the whole experience was always such an adventure!

  2. Hotel at night, for a luxurious sleep and leisurely breakfast, and then spend the day at museums and artsy spots, ending at a wonderful bookshop. Bliss!

  3. I prefer a middle ground…I think it’s called ‘glamping’ or some other equally silly term. Air mattress, indoor plumbing (including showers with hot water please and indoor toilets…outhouses are wayyyyy overrated); privacy (a thing which I’ve discovered is in short supply if one camps out) and a beautiful mountain scene by a lake or a forest would be perfection to me. I don’t mind cast iron cooking over a campfire as long as someone else does it. I know I’d burn anything I tried to make doing that. I’d also need some way to physically STAND UP if I slept all night on an air mattress. My mobility is so poor that trying to get up off the ground is a joke. But I do love the scent of fresh mountain air and the peace of the forest. Nothing quite like that.

    1. Hehehe that’s a cool way to compromise 🙂 I think it really has to do more about the experience, and less about the stay itself… Although a minimum of comfort is important to enjoy a vacation!

    1. Hehehehe, I am still taking my weekly lottery ticket for The Cove… When luck turns our way, you’ll get to pick any place you wish to go 🙂

      1. Well, I have a bit of chameleon in me, so I could fit in with 5-star treatment. But, not for long. My bare-bones sensibility always rests its head eventually. 😃

      1. No I haven’t. But I want to. We have shared terrace here. So we don’t really own it. I hear stories from my parents of them sleeping on the roof during summers.
If it’s in a jungle, a tent from which I can sneak out would be cool. Sleeping with insects, animals and what not around isn’t safe 😂😂
