The first time I went to visit my mom in Florida, I winged it! I naturally, also became the “U-Turn Queen” – It certainly made for an interesting trip… But we were able to get a lot of sightseeing done. LOL!

I’ve never been on trips on my own. Always with family or school or college. No need to say but all of them were well prepared. So I really don’t know what kind of a traveller I would be if I travel on my own. Which one are you?

We plan the trip itself, if flying, and where to stay. We study what places or attractions we may like to see, but rarely have a set itinerary. Beyond that, it’s fly by the seat of our pants.

I usually do a bit of research before hand. I think in a city…I head to the busiest parts – big shopping areas, any big landmarks, museums, galleries. I want to be safe. I feel like being in the busy areas is safest. I don’t want to end up in an area that feels a bit creepy scary. I also like to know where to go to chill out – any nice parks, and I like to find out where we can find nice food for a nice price.

A little bit of both. I like to know what there is to see and do, but I also love to just explore and see what I am going to see.

When travelling on my own I just wing it. But in some places in the world I do carry a map and I am very aware of my surroundings and any potential difficulties.

I do a little of both – plan where I want to go and bring a map (these day it’s Google maps) in case but based on past travels, I have rarely followed my plans.
