Would you rather cook or order out for your guests?
I am not the first blogger to start a ”Question of the day” series. I used to participate to Danny’s Let me ask you a question posts regularly, but since he has almost stopped pubishing them, I thought I’d give it a go. We’ll see if I stick to it, depending on the answers I get!
Depends on the number of guests 😅

Ahhh a conundrum… I guess it depends who the guest is. If its someone who’s a friend then take out every time. If it’s a really good friend or family then I’d cook. It’s the effort that makes it special.

I agree with Steph (I wonder … are we related?) but I try to make everyone feel special and I do enjoy cooking. Sometimes it is a triumph, but sometimes a disaster. I can, at the very least, make sure the wine is decent.

Once upon a time I’d choose ‘cook’ every time. Alas, my mad skills in the kitchen have turned into mediocre at best skills due to atrophy. I’m single and live alone. There’s no more humongous meals being prepared. Hubby liked himself some food. But ordering out (a decent meal) can be spendy. So I’ll toss a coin and decide when and if someone shows up wanting to be fed!

I understand… Life changes and our habits follow. It is easier to cook all the time when you have several mouths to feed too. Cooking just for yourself requests a lot more planning. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Melanie 🙂

I am in the same situation as Mel. But I like to cook, it’s just not feasible now. Everything is too high to do it comfortably. If I can snatch a grandkid,it’s easier. Today delivery is so expensive it’s ridiculous. Today I’m making banana bread, easy.😂

Oh yum! Sometimes, easy is the best… A good slice of warm banana bread and butter… *drooling* I hope your grand kids will keep coming often to lend a hand… It must be sad to give up cooking, because you physically can’t anymore 😦

Hahaha… Yes I agree, if I had more time, and a more stable schedule, I’d cook every night! I love it, it is cheaper, and you know exactly what you are eating 🙂 Unfortunately, sometimes, I have to use short cuts 😛
Keep wowing your family and friends!! Cooking is a wonderful way to show your love 🙂

Life happens to all of us, but overall, I will always find time to cook, and to cook everything from scratch. Like you said, we know exactly what is going into our food when we cook it ourselves. 🙂

If the guests are coming to my house we ( my husband and I both cook) will cook. We would not order in. If we do not have time then we will invite friends to have dinner out with us at a restaurant.

That’s a good way to please last minute guests, when they drop by! I think it is great that your husband enjoys cooking too, it’s a fun activity to do together 🙂 Thank you for sharing, Anne! xx

95% of the time I would cook…but I am not against take-away food and if we have have had a full day of hiking or sightseeing and I am shattered…then there are a wonderful array of restaurants that do take-away on out local high street. I bought a Thai take-away for Goldfinch and me …and another time I went to the Indian when a group turned up unexpectedly and my cupboards were bare.

It’s always cool to treat ourself to a little take-away, or to order in (we ordered some Thai goodies tonight, yum!) but I agree, I prefer to cook most of the time… Practice makes perfect, or so they say. And though I am far from the perfect cook, I do manage to make good food in general, I think 😉

Ego Trina says of course.
Real life Trina says I can cook, I can also burn water depending on my mood.
Either way my poor partner eats it I think one such phrase he has used was its a bit like eating the devils Jizz. If you don’t know what that means do not look it up
