Just six months ago, I was walking in and around Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral. And when I learnt that it was burning down, this afternoon, I just couldn’t believe it.
I never thought I would outlive the more than 800 years old cathedral as we used to know it…
A sad day for history.
I gathered a couple of souvenirs from my visit there… For those of you who never had the chance to see it in person.
What????? Just woke up and feels like I’m still dreaming.

Yes, sadly, it is true… The good news is that the firemen managed to save the stone structure, but most of the majestic cathedral is gone… I still can’t believe it!

My pleasure, Meeka. When the security guard, at work, told me about the news, I didn’t believe him. He had to show me a picture to convince me…

Yeah, it’s sooo on that scale, isn’t it? Like the collapse of the pyramids or something.

Oh yes…. A great loss. Luckily, the stone structure has been saved. But still, it will never be the same again.

I have seen it. Stood right on those steps in your first shot. Religious or not, it’s one of the most iconic buildings in the world. Such a shame. Can’t imagine the artwork that was lost today. 😕

I agree, Sonofa… Luckily, a lot of statues had been stored because of the work being done on it. Still, Paris will wake up badly scared tomorrow morning 😦

You’re very welcome, Anne… I am glad you got to see Notre-Dame before today’s fire. I am a bit scared to see what will be left of it tomorrow… A sad sunrise on Paris, that’s for sure 😦

A terrible loss, indeed. Regardless of the obvious religious purpose of the building, it represents so much, historically. And it inspired so many chefs d’oeuvres… I’m glad I got to see it from my eyes!

You are so right, Cyranny! I would have loved to have seen it in person. I shall just have to be content now with pictures and videos.
