Meet you there at 10h30!
Sarah sent the confirmation to Debbie, her chipped nail polished fingers waltzing on the touch screen with the typical teenage ease. She had just enough time left to get ready to catch the bus riding downtown.
Putting her cell phone down on the couch, the screen lit up just as she was about to turn around to head to her closet. The sight of his name gave her shivers.
What the heck?
Conan had broken up with her a little over a month ago, and since then, he had been ghosting her in an olympic way. He hadn’t returned any of her calls, or replied to her numerous text messages. At school, he ignored her as if she didn’t even exist, and even some of his friends had told her they thought he was exagerating.
Why would he write to her now that the dust had finally settled in the teen-jungle? Her thoughts ran wild. Maybe… Maybe he had changed his mind? Maybe he had realized they were meant to be together after all? Maybe he was sorry and ready to pick their story where they had left it?
Sarah typed her password and opened the pending message.
Thanks for the great evening, babe!
You’re the hottest xoxo
Her eyes teared up.
She was somewhat used to his silence treatment by now, but she hadn’t seen this one coming. This was pure cruelty. She didn’t want to believe the guy she had loved with all of her heart could be so mean… She sobbed and wondered what to answer. He didn’t deserve to see that he had succeeded in hurting her. But she just couldn’t let it pass by without reacting.
Another message popped on the screen.
Wrong number LOL
She bit her lower lip to keep herself from crying out loud. She’d never fall in love again! It wouldn’t be difficult since she would never leave her room.. Never! She wiped her cheeks with the back of her hand, and typped back.
Cheap shot, Conan.
