It is not always an easy task, trying to learn how to become a better person.
Darkness can be alluring. It can be comfortable and inviting. Happiness is so intangible. Just like coldness is only a lack of warmth, I think happiness is a lack of pain, sorrow and anger.
And there is nothing better to suck all the bad out of your life, than hanging around positive people. We hear that all the time. It sounds corny, but it is true.
Hate and hurt can be toxic, and spread like weeds, but positivity can be just as infectious. And it seems like lately, I’ve managed to suround myself with many genuinely kind souls. I don’t even have to share my problems with them. Their aurae suffice to make me grow in very subtle ways… Most of them probably don’t realize the good they are generating.
I feed on their strength, on their frank laughter, their way to pursue their dreams, their perseverence in overcoming the obstacles Life puts it front of them… I silently feed on their unique greatness.
I’d say the key is to be glad for people’s happiness, instead of being envious.
It seems to be working for me.
I’d love to point fingers, but there are too many of you, out there, I’d have to give a shout out at! I’d also be afraid to forget some of you, and I don’t want anybody to feel left out either.
But you will know, in time 🙂 You will… If you don’t already!

I try really hard to be a positive person, it’s better than always being dour and sour. However life today makes it hard though.

It is really hard. But you know what they say… Practice makes perfect! And quite frankly, I’d say that you’re doing a pretty awesome job at it, Tony! 🙂

I really enjoyed this post for your honesty and candor. It’s not easy being positive all the time, it takes great effort some days, but the way I see it… If it makes someone happy, then it was worth it. 🙂

I totally agree, Beckie 🙂 In general, a frown will make others frown, and a smile will put a smile even on a stranger’s face… Easier said than done though 😉

I am definitely not one of those positive people you speak of. This is why I have trouble understanding why anyone would want to be around me… I may be toxic. It’s obviously not intentional… but I worry constantly that I bring people down… and eventually, no one will want to be around that anymore.
Sorry, that was not very positive.

There is a big difference between suffering and being negative and toxic, Sandra! Likewise, some people live a very sweet life, but don’t radiate positivity 😉

Are you saying that I *do* radiate positivity? That would be the first time I’ve ever heard that! 🙂

With everything going on in your life, it is not easy for you to let your positive side radiate, I’ll give you that. But you do have things that can inspire! I wish I was skilled enough to have anything artistic to sell and have my own online boutique… 🙂 And I know that when things are better for you, you’ll spread that energy around you 🙂

The mind is powerful and it’s easy to get caught in negative thoughts.. but I try every day to be grateful and see the positive side of things and people. I do also swear a lot and think occasionally I’m surrounded by idiots but hey, not everyone is perfect 😂

Thank you, Dray 🙂 I realize how much easier it is to add positiveness in my life, rather than trying to avoid everything negative. As a friend told me once, it is better to embrace the negative, and live with it, than always fight it. I have been practicing this lately, and it works rather well 🙂
Welcome in The Cove, I hope to see you around again soon! xx
