Already the last day (it was supposed to be yesterday, I know, but I had technical troubles that kept me from posting pictures), and I’d like to thank Dee, from Grateful Single Moms, (again) for inviting me to participate in the 3 day quote challenge. I hope you are enjoying my participation… If not, pay Dee a visit, and file your complaint on her blog! LOL
Rules of the Challenge:
- Thank the person who nominated you.
- Post a quote for three consecutive days (1 quote for each day).
- Share why this quote appeals so much to you.
- Nominate 3 different bloggers for each day.
So my last quote du jour is the following;
They say such nice things about people at their funerals that it makes me sad that I’m going to miss mine by just a few days.
Garrison Keillor
Mr Keillor is an American writer, humorist and radio personality that I like a lot. I love his humor, and it is the main reason I picked this quote. To finish this challenge on a good giggle!
Here are the blogs I’d like to nominate for this last day;

This made me laugh 😂
I wish people would have said those nice things before it’s too late(we’re still alive) and the world would have been a better place to live in.

If only we could be this honest with all the people we love, right? This world would indeed be a much better place to live in….

There is very little of what I write that enjoys public exposure. The exceptions to that rule, sadly, are eulogies. I seem to have become an unwilling specialist. I did one for my father and for my mother and then for a few friends and suddenly I became the ‘go to’ person to write nice and sad things about people who had died. I wrote one about a week ago for a woman I had travelled through South America with. The funeral was yesterday. I wasn’t there.
It is not something I like doing. Often I make charmingly sentimental but inaccurate observations about people I hardly know. People cry. Sometimes I cry myself. That’s when I know I have hit the mark.
I don’t want to be there to hear what people say at my funeral. Most of it will be lies. And I have heard enough of those already.
And I don’t want to cry at my own funeral. That would be intolerably self-indulgent.

For some reason, I can easily imagine you writing eulogies. I picture you sitting in a comfortable armchair, by the fire… your feet on an ottoman, sipping on some mysterious drink with your pen & paper on your lap, reminiscing memories of the lost one, to figure what you’ll be writing to move their family to tears… Just my imagination, but I like the image anyway 😉

Lol well I’m enjoying your participation! 😂 this quote also reminds me that we should say nice things to people today… Right now…While they’re still here to know how you feel! 😁

Very true… But I think there’s a little bit of well-meant hypocrisy during funerals. And a lot of people who attend, but don’t really feel like being there. I told my parents that I wanted themed funerals if I died before them (like Circus Funerals, or Rio Carnival Funerals…) People would have to dress up to attend… And that way, only people who really loved me would be there! LOL (I am joking… but I still think it would be a good idea :P)
