It’s time to vote!

No, I wasn’t joking with this Flag Contest.

I am aware that I say a lot of silly things, and do a lot of goofy stuff in The Cove. I might even have lost all eventual credibility as a serious writer in the future, because of that. But blogging is about having fun (unless I start getting a regular paycheck, the least I should expect is to enjoy my time here, right?)

So, for people who haven’t followed this Flag thing (you can catch up here and here!) here is a (short) resumé of what happened previously!

A couple of weeks back, I was having a little chat with Sonofa, because, that’s something we just like to do. And we started talking about a loose-screws club we both felt we could be members of, if it existed, of course.

Sonofa went a step farther, wondering what that club’s flag would look like… If there was such a club of looneys, and if they had in fact, a flag.

But there was no club, and no flag, and someone (Sonofa) said “I dare you”, or something like that, and before we all knew it, this contest was online! Now, I got some subcriptions, and you all can give your opinion, and vote in the comment box. I’ll leave until February 1st, midnight, Montréal time, and announce the winner on Friday the 2nd.

Get ready for the least exciting winner announcement EVER. (votes will be in the comments below… no big surprise! Unless you’re really bad at adding numbers, then I promise you’ll get your money’s worth from this magical unveiling of our winner and his/her glorious flag!!)

But! I will, as I already promised when we started this madness… I will have 2 copies of the winner’s flag made (Yes yes, real flags, that you can hang outside, or inside, or not hang but carry around… I think I’ll wear mine as a cape! Really, it is up to you… ), one for me, and one I’ll have delivered to the winner’s door!

  2. I suppose I shouldn’t vote as I might conceivably have a flag in this oddball contest, but I am letting GEORGE vote and I shall record for posterity HIS remarks. So without further ado, George’s remarks (or as close as I can spell them since I still do not understand German!)
    “mine Gott, Suze! Vas der Holle ist dat?” I assumed he was asking about the cool looking flags…instead he pointed towards number 3…he didn’t sound real happy so I asked again, which flag is best? He sighed…screwed up his face (he tends to do that around m for some reason) then said “number 5. at least it has Moose.” I said , what do moose have to do with anything, and he replied “There are Moose in the tundra..there is tundra in Canada…where Cyranny lives”. So, there ya have it…the Hartline residence is voting for number 5. 😀

      I can see why #3 got his brow to raise a little, but hey! We’re all adults here, and I think the mooses’ cuteness evens things out quite nicely 🙂

      2. Do you want me to take a picture of the crowd’s reaction? (I live on a pretty busy street… not one of Montréal’s major ones, but definately not a backstreet 😛

      6. Oh yeah! I remember when I moved there… I always leave the living room’s light on, dimmed but still, there is a bit of light all night long at home. And people finishing their shift at midnight, or starting at 5 in the morning used to make comments about how I didn’t seem to sleep at all… Then, some people made comments about how I would save on the electricity bill if I turned the dang light off when I went to bed… I mean, how nosy must people be?

        I think I keep it on just to bother those it bothers now LOL

  10. Just an idea…

    I think that the meaning of the designs are important too.
    Mine is about celebrating diversity…

    I like the colours and design of #2, but I do not know its meaning.

  11. hummm, I am just guessing here, but I would think number 1 is probably about an invasion of denmark by alien Canadians………number 3 would be “among them laugh”…hummmm, that makes no sense does it? and the moosey one? well, it is a cute moose..sort of like Bullwinkle who had a best friend squirrel named rocky and I have no idea where I am going with this.
